I ran a coiled basketry workshop at Darley Neighbourhood House yesterday for a small but dedicated group of students. They did very well to learn the basics of the technique of coiling using mariposa stitch. The coils were made of a combination of materials such as old patterned shirts sourced from op shops that were cut into lengths, stripped flax and red hot poker.
