Drawing Lab in Castlemaine

The (With) Drawing Room

The (With) Drawing Room was an experimental drawing lab for artists and drawing enthusiasts to exchange and develop skills in November 2014. The aim was that experiments invigorated art practices through a program of workshops, an exhibition, reflection and discussion.

Drawing materials and interesting subjects were available at the gallery at Lot 19 in Castlemaine. The community could drop in and draw daily with Artist Eliza-Jane Gilchrist over a week period. There were experimental drawing workshops each day culminating in an exhibition and forum.

The (With) Drawing Room was funded by Regional Arts Victoria through a Quick Response Grant, and was generously supported by Castlemaine Art Gallery and Historical Museum and Lot 19.

On Monday Nov 3 Jodie Goldring facilitated a drawing workshop entitled wire and shadow drawing from 6pm-9pm.

“I led participants on an exploration of line by generating shadow drawings of one of my woven sculptures. The sculptures were traced and worked up via experimentation with a variety of mixed media drawing materials”
