Care Symposium Poster D2Collaborative Nourishment

A collaborative art experience where the audience is invited to help create a sculptural artwork. In an informal workshop participants will be supported to create a small stitched or wrapped bundle of grass that will be pinned to the wall to build on an existing woven structure out of natural materials created by the Artist. As the workshop progresses the group will make a sculptural form that loosely depicts the underground root structure of a plant. We will wrap up with a chat about how this process, art making experience and resultant artwork evokes care…

Thursday October 31 at 3-4.40pm, George Paton Gallery, Union House, University of Melbourne

Plants for Basketry

Beginners to basketry often express lack of confidence in their ability to identify, collect, dry, store and rehydrate natural materials for weaving baskets. In this workshop you will gain skills and knowledge about harvesting, storing and using natural materials that you can apply to plants from your own or friend’s gardens! Janine has generously offered her home garden, which is open for the Garden Lovers Weekend, to host the event. Jodie Goldring is a Sculptor and Art Teacher who has a broad range of creative experiences to share.

Saturday November 9, Janine Booth’s Garden at Castyljayde, 2-4pm, $30 ($25 Conc)
