I facilitated my last basketry workshop for the year on Sunday November 27 in Ballarat. Participants used long tough dietes leaves for the stakes and strappy fibre such as red hot poker, red and gold watsonia and Siberian iris for the strands of their twined baskets. There was great diversity in the shape, size and colouration of baskets that were created in this workshop. Everyone managed to finish their basket in the one day workshop with the last rolled rim created after the group photo was taken. Kirsty wanted to take a bit more time to shape the neck of her basket with care. I was pleased that participants finished their baskets in a staggered timeframe, so that I could give them all the support they needed with the rolled rim in a relaxed way. It can be stressful to finish the day with the most challenging step of making the basket! I am now starting to collect plant fibre needed for next years workshops as Summer into Autumn is the perfect time to do this. Thanks to Olivia for helping me pull up my daffodil and jonquil bulbs that were starting to get overcrowded in my garden. I will use the leaves for weaving and she plans to take most of the bulbs home and create a gorgeous wildflower field. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to my friends and followers. I hope to be rested and rejuvenated over the festive season and back onboard to share all things weaving in 2023…

What a lovely workshop Jodie, the group looks very happy with their work and it was great to see some men joining in as well !!
Well done 👍
