Coiling at Rare Trades with old Friends…

It was lovely to see some familiar faces from Manjimup Senior High School at the Centre for Rare Trades yesterday. It has only been 35 years since I have seen Dana and Kerryn, so we had a bit to catch up on over drinks and nibbles after the workshop!

All the participants loved coiling using arum lily, which is such a great beginners plant fibre. They also learned how to wax and paint threads to provide subtle colour variation in their baskets. A technique I learned from Mary Hettmansberger, when she visited Australia in 2018.

Today I am gearing up for Craft Lab running from May 20-28. I am sure to post more about this over the coming week!!! For more info go to – https://www.creativeballarat.com.au/craftdesign.
