I may have been heard saying “It doesn’t get much better than this” as I was standing in the morning sunshine looking out to the spring garden at the Garden of St Erth. The pink Camelia so laden with blossom that the branches were wobbling with the weight, in the whisper of breeze. The daffodils in full bloom, inspiring the fruit trees to wake up and put on a show.

The day was a buzz with the weaving of melon baskets at my first workshop for The Diggers Club. A busy day with just enough time to enjoy morning tea and lunch provided by the cafe. Everyone met the challenge of setting up the ribbed construction in the morning. In the afternoon the participants explored a range of plant fibre, enjoying the textural and colour combinations when creating their baskets.
I look forward to going back again next year (Sunday December 1) to teach another group of gardeners how to make melon baskets.

The baskets are beautiful Jodie – well done!👍
