My first workshop of the year was held at Newstead Arts Hub yesterday, Sunday January 21. Great to see so many people keen to learn how to use natural materials such as red hot poker, day lily and Siberian iris to weave decorative boats. The technique used was ribbed construction, weavers were woven above and below the grapevine and cane framework to ‘flesh out’ the surface of the boat.
Although no-one was quite finished their boats at the end of the day, I demonstrated how to finish so that participants were able to go home and complete. Carolyn went home and finished her boat last night after the workshop. Thanks Carolyn for sending a photo! I finished the boat I created during demonstrations while I was watching the Australian Open last night, a detail of it can be seen below (in my hand).
If you are interested in joining me for a workshop this year they are now listed at the “Up and Coming” page on my website – https://jodiegoldring.com.au/up-and-coming/
