There was creative magic  at Darley Neighbourhood Centre yesterday when 7 women gathered together to learn random weaving. I was surprised and delighted when 2 ladies bought ideas with them and approached the task very uniquely – random weaving around a light fixture and creating a randomly woven grid that was embellished with LED lights!

It was a great day to yarn bomb Mollongghip! Just before the Poetry Slam which is tomorrow night at the Community Hall.

I had a lovely time at the Creswick Neighbourhood Centre this weekend demonstrating basketry to the many people that visited Creswick to see local gardens. A couple of friends visited from the Moorabool Fibre Artists to to add to the colour, movement and noise of my exhibit!

What a glorious day!! Too lovely to be indoors so we set up outside in the dappled sunlight. This workshop was held at the Creswick Neighbourhood Centre on Saturday October 29.

I am working with kids for 2 weeks in the Art Gallery of Ballarat’s after school program called “The Art of Giving’. Kids started to make Christmas stars last Tuesday and will finish them next Tuesday.

I have started collecting material for random weaving workshops I am facilitating over the next few weeks. Look at this amazing wisteria that I have been lucky enough to cut back! Last night local gardener, Gayl Morrow, purchased the willow teepee I donated to the fundraising auction for the Community Hall. Here it is already in-situ in her vegetable patch!  

Yesterday I taught members of the Parent Craft Group at the Ballarat Steiner School how to make coiled baskets. It was a great day with lots of thought provoking conversation. The building we were located in was gloriously designed and an inviting space to spend the day.
