I worked with a small committee to host this event which saw 60 participants share a number of experiences that aimed at developing greater understanding between diverse weaving communities. We received positive feedback from participants such as the following email from Barbara:
“Many, many thanks to Jodie, Laurel, Aunty Marilyne and your guests for a truly memorable day. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to meet and speak with so many creative and open-hearted women, both indigenous and non-indigenous.
I must extend a special thankyou to Bek who facilitated the small discussion group that I was lucky enough to be a part of. Her generosity of spirit allowed dialogue to flow easily and all contributions to be valued and respected.
From the Welcome to Country to the construction of Bunjil’s nest and everything in between, the concept and promise of Weaving Connections became reality.
The weather may have been cold and forbidding but the atmosphere at Lot 19 was warm and inviting.
A huge ‘well done’ and again thank you.”
