Yesterday was an extremely cold day, a group of us kept our hands busy and warm by weaving birds from wild willow. To start, recycled fencing wire was shaped to create feet, legs and a basic framework for the birds. Participants then learned and applied sculptural skills to make a willow framework before weaving into it using the basketry technique of random weaving. Heads, wings and tails were added after lunch to make the birds come alive!

Looks terrific Jodie,
what fun, sorry I missed it. Mind you I wouldn’t have been well enough, I have had lousy cold all week.
I bought a copy of Finding Form with Fibre, so inspiring as are you and your generous creativity with these classes.
I am spending this afternoon putting together ideas for a texture and stitch group I belong to. I am planning to explore cloth vessels and have an idea for incorporating small stems, twigs and vines for the framework, I will keep you posted.
Hope you are well and content,
Cheers Tina
