I helped families weave lavender wands today at Lavandula in Hepburn. This lovely Swiss Italian farm has festivals three times a year that offer a wide range of experiences for visitors to and locals of the region. It was exciting to learn how to use a scythe to collect the lavender.
I trimmed the Living Willow Tunnel on Friday at Cricket Willow in Hepburn. I was one of 7 people who made this structure in 2015. It really needed a haircut!!
Yesterday I helped seven ladies create beautiful baskets using the technique of random weaving during an all day workshop at the Creswick Neighbourhood Centre.
I spent Sunday 22nd of October at Lavandula in Hepburn showing visitors how to make shapes out of willow. It was a lovely day spent listening to Italian music and watching people dancing the tarantella. Pictured below are my baskets that I had on display.

Yesterday I taught a class of adults how to make coiled baskets at the Creswick Neighbourhood Centre. We were all pleased with the results! Adding patterned fabric lengths to the core ensured each and every basket was unique and some of the colour combination were splendid. Well done ladies!!
Thanks to those who came and contributed to the final installation at our Open Day on Sunday June 4. We are wrapping up the project with some reflection activities in the next week or so. Documentation and creative writing from the project can be viewed at Words In Winter in August 2017.
On Thursday June 1 students learned through discovery and play with a number of new materials and techniques. The project will open to the community this Sunday and visitors will be invited to see what has been created and add to this installation.
