Thanks to the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens for inviting me back to their historic cottage last Saturday February 27. The weather was perfect for working outdoors, which ensured appropriate social distancing. I bought a range of plant material for participants to weave into their melon baskets, that I had collected during the summer months. The colours were gorgeous and “harvest” was the term used by Helen to describe the rainbow of plant fibre available to her. I used the word “magical” as that is how it felt experiencing the goodwill and creativity at the cottage last weekend, more poignant this year after the isolation we felt in 2020.
